Glass Sculpting Techniques with a Torch by Verre & Flamme - Floriane Lataille
On the occasion of the European Night of Museums, Floriane Lataille will come to the François Décorchemont Glass Museum to introduce us to her expertise and share her passion, through a glass-making demonstration for the general public. Coming from applied arts (Olivier de Serre), Floriane found her happiness in the multitude of colors and the transparency that glass offers. Initially trained at CERFAV in Lorraine, in various glass techniques, and more particularly in cane blowing, she then turned to working with soft glass with a flame, allowing more freedom in shapes and colors.
It is by working within the workshop of Jean-Pierre Baquère and Alain Villechange, alongside a training at AFEDAP in contemporary jewelry, that she continued her research with the flame, mainly focused on contemporary jewelry. A member of the Association of Art Beadmakers of France, she seeks to promote through teaching the multitude of techniques that glass allows and thus pass on the flame.
This year will mark the twenty-second edition of the event. Since its launch in 2005, the European Night of Museums has attracted a large audience each year in an increasing number of museums. Its success with young audiences has been confirmed.
The European Night of Museums will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026. That evening, many museums will open their doors for free in France and Europe, from nightfall until midnight. Illuminated tours, playful trails, screenings, and special activities will give the public an experience of the museum that is both friendly and playful.
The European Night of Museums is organized by the Ministry of Culture, in connection with the Regional Directorates of Cultural Affairs (DRAC). It is under the patronage of UNESCO, the Council of Europe, and ICOM, and has numerous institutional and media partnerships.
