François Décorchemont

Painter and master glassmaker François Décorchemont (1880-1971) created a body of work during the 20th century that profoundly influenced French decorative arts. From pâte de verre art objects initially inspired by the naturalism of Art Nouveau, then by the aesthetics of Art Deco, to the stained glass windows produced after the Second World War, his creations constantly reveal his exploration of matter, color, and light. Through a selection of two hundred works, consisting mainly of objects and stained glass in pâte de verre, but also drawings, paintings, models, maquettes and archives, from the museum's collections and public and private loans, the glass museum, which took the name of the Conchois artist upon its reopening in 2022, is offering him his first retrospective in France this year.
