As part of the Saturday 2025 Screenings program, the museum is organizing the screening of a film by Vincent Lauth from 2008 "To Flying Souls, the Story of a Stained Glass Window. 36-minute film.
Emmanuelle Grand has been entrusted with the delicate task of bringing life to a place of mourning by creating a monumental stained glass window for the large ceremonial hall of the new crematorium in Dijon. To the Souls Gone, the story of a stained glass window plunges us into the intimacy of his studio, to discover his technical and aesthetic finds.
Vincent Lauth's film tells the story of the dialogue between the artist and the decorator Marie Laforgue. It retraces all the stages of the development of the work, from the design of the models to the creation of glass pieces mixing traditional or contemporary techniques: grisaille painting, engraving, fusing, leading...
Thus, we follow the entire creative process until the in situ installation of a real stained glass structure that stands as as a final tribute to loved ones on their way, as a comfort for all those who came to greet them. The film won the Glass Prize under the title Glass, Source of Creation at the 2008 International Film Festival on Clay and Glass.
